It's Not Hoarding If Your Stuff Is Cool

For years, I have put off dusting or laundry or whatever to just GO!  (Supposedly my family nickname before I could barely walk was “The Go Go Girl” Ha!)  I crave a good road trip and IF said road trip should just happen to end up at a flea market, vintage shop, or handmade goods show, wellllllllll ......….. so be it.  ;)

Already, since closing our gate Christmas Eve, I have hit two major flea markets and knocked out about 75% of my list of favorite North Texas stops - scavenging all the good stuff and moving along.

Next Up?  A little R and R in sunny south Florida.  I’m booked to go on a trolley tour of old homes (another passion of mine!) and I have been googling all the little local shops to duck into while the hubs is out deep-sea fishing.  Win-win!!  In addition to finding all the vintage goodness that area has to offer, I’m really looking forward to meeting with local artists and collaborating on some original pieces to either bring back or have shipped directly to Oopsy Daisy!  Some of the coolest artisans live at the beach!

Last summer, I spied and immediately purchased this original beauty while waiting in line at a juice shop on the Central Coast of California.  Upon returning, I reached out to the artist and contracted to have more made (each one-of-a-kind!) for our customers at our Daisy Boutique!

As quick as I get home from the beach, I'll grab a few grandbaby snuggles, and then I fly off the other direction to Arizona.  It's the same gameplan for that trip ~ seek, find, conquer, and pay for yet another pushing-the-weight-limit checked bag at the airport! (they love me.)

I think what I enjoy most about looking for unique items is that for whatever reason, I seem to see the things (good things!) other people have not noticed.  Maybe it's the thrill of the hunt or maybe it's my heart of always rooting for the underdog, but when I feel an emotional connection to a find, I know it's meant to come home with me.  Vintage, new and artsy, canine with bad teeth..... whatever.  And from the feedback I get on our store's aesthetic, apparently that is what so many of you enjoy as well.  Shopping for treasures that have been rescued, reinvisioned, and ready to re-love in your home!

Can't wait to show off our Daisy Market again in Spring!  But for now ~ Bon Voyage!!
